Description
The Submerged Belt Conveyor, or often a Submerged Scraper Chain Conveyor (SSCC), is a crucial piece of mechanical equipment in a power plant’s ash handling system, specifically dedicated to the continuous and safe removal of bottom ash from the boiler. This robustly constructed conveyor is built into a long, heavy-duty, water-filled trough directly beneath the furnace. Its core function is a synchronized process of extinguishing, cooling, and transporting ash and clinker that can fall from the boiler at scorching temperatures (up to ). The water bath instantly quenches the hot material and, simultaneously, suppresses dust emissions while creating a necessary water seal to prevent air leakage into the furnace. The material is then gently scraped or carried along the trough by a powerful chain or belt assembly to the elevated, inclined section. This incline serves to lift the ash out of the water, initiating the dewatering process before the cooled, moist material is discharged for final disposal or crushing.
